In the world between the daylight
and the darkness of our souls
In a state of being where thoughts flow
as water o/'/er the shoals
Gently swirling eddys in the corners of my mind
Stir up cloudy images of things I/'/ve left behind
Drifting pictures of the past that float by as I sleep,
Painfully reminding me of memories buried deep...
Words of anger said in haste
Loves and friendships gone to waste
Vainly struggling to turn back the hands of life/'/s eternal clock
Faster now the water races
A myriad of familiar faces
As the rapids smash my hopes and dreams upon the jagged rocks...
Dreaming is supposed to be
a refuge from reality
Mine, I am afraid to say
don/'/t ever seem to be that way
