Who owns your life?

While most select with some regret;
The life long work they choose;
How few will make the steps it takes
To love the work they do?
Pursue a job you love by God,
As you would have a lover.
That so inspires such fierce desires;
That you would have no other.
A mistress who owns all of you
Who leaves you drained and spent;
Invades your sleep, that you should keep;
Her appetites content.
How swift each day when work is play;
And win or lose you know;
A life on wings, on your own strings
In no mans undertow.
