She gave her body that he might love her;
Hold no other one above her.
He gave romance to know her flesh;
To soothe his pain and loneliness.
Entangled in a brief charade;
The deal they brokered went astray.
No lessons learned; no wrongs unmasked;
No changes made; no questions asked.
Ingoring clues love tried to leave;
Until it failed to thrive deceived;
On secrets, lies, and make-believe.
