Off To The War

Oh my Lord
Why shall my fate
Be that I was born
Seven decades too late
I/'/m a man that denies color
Only to see the world
Prewar in black and white
I await the Birmingham train
Travel only by night
Southbound to see my gal
London my destination tonight
We are only in our late teens
And I/'/m off to the war
To see the world
Most likely I will lose
All that I adore
As I steal a kiss on the pier tonight
Share the pitter patter of our hearts
Only this world can keep us apart
We fully understand
When I do depart
We only live on borrowed time
We shall always remember this day
No matter what the future may bring
Happiness or utter dismay
Cause I/'/m off to the war
The very next day
