No one scores what came before;
(Becoming’s such a mess).
You see the now; but not the how;
The last page, not the rest.
I misplaced parts and broke some hearts;
Forgot to thank a few;
School, job, mom, wife; No time for life;
Working hard, like you.
Come close and count the creases;
The scars outside and in;
The lost romance; the failed chance;
To stop and start again!
The hours of books
And steps mistook,
The excremental sniffing;
The birthdays missed;
The graveyard shifts;
The buns that needed kissing.
--------------------------------------
The bottom line is dreams take time;
Whatever youre pursuing!
Nibble slowly while you dine;
And most of all, keep chewing!
