Live In The Now

There once was a time
when wine tickled me silly;
I peed in the fire,
a backwoods hillbilly.
I stomped where I went,
tore up my new tent,
lost all my friends
being so nilly-willy.
Then I hated myself
for what I had done,
that wine and those fires
I once thought of as fun.
But the years came to me,
though I fought valiantly,
to remain blind in a land
where every one sees.
At last came the day,
I didn’t know at the time,
when self-abuse tasted sour;
the juice of a lime.
So I sat down the bottle,
gave up at last,
then along came the day
when I threw out my past.
It was to tedious, to heavy
to lug all around,
my hands wanted to grasp
the new life I had found.
So with a smile at all
my mistakes where I learned,
from stupidities waste,
at least I had earned
the right to get all,
the most out of life,
And I finally saw,
It/'/s so easy, and how!
Let go of the past,
live in the now!
