you, sadly, taken away too soon
nevermore ever to see sun or moon
a badge you wore lit childrens eyes
now loved ones crying to the skies,

you protected your cities and streets
whilst so many people you did meet
you stood in uniform so proud, so true
you, one of the brave, one of the few,

to a child in need you brought a smile
from home, you went far, many miles
flashing lights, gun drawn, our heroes
mostly you met good, but some- zeros,

with protection, with honor, you served
then along came life to throw you a curve
now up in heaven, our hearts go up to you
to many you were a loved angel in blue,

in the face of danger you never did sway
some wonder why you did it, such bravery
how could you not worry, nor death fear
alas, now a ruffle of angel wings we hear.
