So I may peer into the water
To see if I/'/m among
The living or dead
I/'/m a soulless mind
Forgotten by time
Living in a past
Surely not made to last
Simply left behind
By so many that came before
Who were so much more refined
If not supremely divine
The vision I see
Is not the man
Once beknown to me
Weathered by storms
Disillusioned by time
Out of sync
A rhythmless rhyme
I shall search on
To seek and find
Others of my creed
My very same kind
Given the knowledge
To prosper and succeed
I pray to God
May I be

Take me down
To the river/'/s edge
So I may peer into the water
To see if I/'/m among
The living or dead
I/'/m a soulless mind
Forgotten by time
Living in a past
Surely not made to last
Simply left behind
By so many that came before
