The Old Man In The Mansion

The old and worn alarm clock beckons me
To rise and shine
Best to be early
Got to get moving well before nine

I'm surrounded by old
If it glimmers and shines
Like a sparkling new dime
It's not for me, I give it no time

I live in a mansion
Up on the third floor
I spend my day
Searching evermore

I live a life of seclusion
I suffer many social ills
When it comes to reality
I prefer to remain trapped in my delusional premortality

Other than those voices I often hear
This old place is pretty much dead
Except for a mouse or two
It's just me and the friends that live in my head

My reality is scrambled from day to day
I offer nothing and receive the same in kind
My hopes and dreams are benign to me
Whatever I have is good enough for thee
