Once you leave you can’t go back;
Nothing stops while you unpack;
Time’s a thief and years will leap
Across the pages while you sleep!
The whys will change with every when;
Nothing’s as it was again!
Short gets tall; naïve turns smart!
Memories outgrow the heart.
Saplings ripen all about us;
Fledgling love goes on without us.
Life's a book whose pages burn;
With every single page we turn.
We can hurry to the end;
but not alas, turn back again.
