THE GHOST OF REMEMBRANCE

it was the ghost of remembrance that i had once chosen
an invisible ghost, a ghost even unto itself
left to wander the wasteland that since became frozen
after that heart not beating was depleted of wealth
a well of wishful thinking is where it had fallen
only to be of empty bottom, as was it's soul
it had missed the whispers that spoke of it's calling
was trapped beneath the bell that rang of it's toll
to remember a ghost, conjures the ghost
whose good haunts have turned into depression
regret is the emotion it receives all the most
regret, to eat at, then leave an impression
it was the ghost of remembrance that i had once hailed
pulled so close to myself to know it's embrace
i did this when all else i tried failed
when darkness of night had surrounded my face
leave it to be, leave this one alone
search deeper than i have up to this day
tear down the walls made up of black stone
then, let in life, chase your ghost away...
