A Worthy Opponent

You seem to think I am your punching bag
I have two clenched fists that dropped the white flag
You might knock me back but won't knock me down
I will wear your bruised ego like a crown
You get a special glint when you play with fire
I lick at flames like gasoline, sweat, perspire
You may have hurt me, but I have been through worse
I am in the trenches, but I drive the hearse
You struggle to understand a person like me
I am chained up, padlocked, yet I still remain free
You want this to end badly, but you lack the tools
I give you everything, but not the jet that fuels
I am the only writer of this script
You were the director but then you slipped
I wanted a villain, someone to blame
You can't escape, you and I are the same.
