I dont even have to close my eyes
to be there-
I can see and smell, feel and taste
the air the streets the night the desperation
the loss the sharing the losing
that is Galveston for me.
I can sit on the Poopdeck
drink my whiskey,
besotted waves pounding tired shore.
My favourite spot between two dunes-
I let the rocks paranoia wash and wear-
I'm waiting at 47th for Dodo
Playing slots (where the hell is he?) hoping to win it big-
It never happened- I lost it all in Galveston.
Pounding on my door
It's 3 AM, "Do you have some more?"
'Stephanie, please leave me alone."
The causeway on to Galveston
Mind as full of hopes as my heavy-laden moving van.
The causeway off of Galveston?
My car, two cats, a broken man.
