I, the sea
See many things
I know each land on earth
I've traveled every time
I've seen all faces
Know all tales
And this one I will tell

A tale of hope
A windswept heart
A blinded seer
And how the Northwind
Fell in love

They say the Northwind used to be
As young as spring is new
And every breeze was just a smile
And joy was in the wind she blew

But then my waves tell other tales
Of pain, of broken heart
Of anguish, loss, and emptiness
A soul was torn apart

I wept as well, when Northwind changed
And always with her mourned
And as the winds raged- ravished skies
The ocean also stormed

When youth is lost
And child torn
The smile is lost
And fear is born

Northwind blew
Still just as strong
But no more warmth
Now filled her song

She wept and mourned
So deep inside
That frozen winds
Was all she cried

And there arose in distant land
In lands where warriors rise
A prophet-king
A warlord of renown

He rose to fight in distant land
When he was but a boy
And did not know a home or house
He thought he needed none

And long he fought in distant land
Until he gained a throne
At last the king in him was seen
By all
Not just the fates

But then one day, from distant shore
He purposed to return
And day by day his feet trudged on
Until he found his home

But blood had driven him from home
And blood had broken him
For though his body, fit and strong
Trained by waging war
His heart had broken from the strain
And now his heartbeat, when it beat
Was just the drums of war

I, the Sea
Must say that though
I know all that I know
I cannot say what happened then
When king found his way home
For years past
In silence vast
Until the king
Was once more seen
Though now he had no sight

Though years had passed
And time gone by
To time he was no slave
For still as strong
He stood alone
And though his eyes
Had stolen been
The Fates, a gift had made to him
They gave him seer's eyes
For though he could not see around
He now could see beyond

Now word of this blind prophet-king
Spread through all the earth

So sages, kings, and emperors
Came to him one and all
And to each question, answer give
Foretell what would befall

"To all who ask
To all who wonder
To all you answer give
But now I ask you, Prophet-King
Who gives each man his future bold
I ask who shall your future be
And who shall be your joy?"

These words were spoken by a child
One none but he had heard
And once her words had reached his ears
She vanished like a bird

And as he turned his eye within
To look upon his soul
He found he could not see inside
And could not see himself

He tried to let that question fade
He tried to let it go
But no
His soul could not forget
And so he sought the Fates

He found the highest mountain top
A cliff that met the sea
And there he asked the Fates to give him ear
He pleaded near
And heartfelt were his words

But Fates just silent sat
And let his prayers dissolve
No answer gave

He rose to leave and anger turned his hands to fists
His tears to hate
His steps astray
And he fell

He fell into the wind
The Northwind cold
The Northwind strong

She saw him
Felt him
Touch her life
And all at once she knew him

The hands that never touched her skin
Now moved her deepest heart
Eyes that had never seen her face
Now knew all that she was
And lips that never spoke her name
Now kissed her spirit free

He fell, he fell, but now he flew
For Northwind, with no word
Had risen fast, and risen strong
And held the Prophet-king
And given him her wings
She held him to her heart
And he embraced it
Desperately
And as he held on to her heart
His own heart beat in time

She loved him, and he had not seen it coming
He loved her, and she did not know why

She saved his life, though neither knew
And he restored her soul
And hope rose softly in her heart
For love makes all things whole

And as her hope grew and increased
He suddenly could see
Despair is what blinds every eye
But hope sets all things free

So if you ask
If mortal man
Can love the Northern Wind
And if you ask
If Northwind can
A Prophet-King embrace
An answer I will give

Love doesn't take the easy route
Love never wastes herself
Love always knows what she must do
And never hesitates

Love is life in purest form
True love holds everything
And love has worked a miracle
When Northwind loved the king
