Growing In Love

Children we were, when we first met -
A girl and a boy, in love’s silhouette.
From the shadow behind us, ‘tween our souls and our love,
Destiny blessed us, as I know she should’ve.
Children now older, between eyes ‘cross a bar,
Our love is rekindled, ascendant, like star.
‘Tween our gazes so longing past forlorn regret,
Our differences dwindle o’er times we forget.
This man would’ve cared more, if only he knew
There’s nothing as painful as heartbreak with you.
So in difference conceded to yearning remorse,
We gaze through the smoke, as our star takes its course.
We meet up and talk of familiar things,
Like solitude’s space and the luck that it brings
In the night 'till this light flares in solitary shine
And I blink into yours, and you blink into mine . . .
Arabesque in our shadow, fate’s form does entwine
Fraying paths of our lives in the luck of divine.
We draw closer together, ‘neath our nourishing sun
As we grow in its splendour
And in love, become One.
