We are alone
You and I
An empty parking lot
Black divide
Kicked down
And low
We are alone
You mange-ridden
Lame and hungry
I tired
Undesirable
Lost in thought
We are not alone
The foolish say
You hesitant
Driven
Afraid
Cowering from my reach
Do you remember how they held you?
How they brushed the knots from your fur?
Do you remember how they loved you?
Oh, how they loved you
How they curled your heart with laughter
How they held your paws with care
We are alone
You and I
