Til We Meet Again...

Growing up without you was hard
But physically see you go was harder enough...
I grew up seeing all the other boys and girls
run, laugh, and play with their dads
all smiles from cheek to cheek.
I was jealous of them all,
and as my heart grew weak
every year I wished you would appear,
and surprise me with a hug and a kiss,
but as the time passed by
my hopes and dreams slowly faded away.
And I grew anger.
My heart felt so much pain.
When we finally met face to face,
I didn't want to hear your reasons of "why"
I just pushed you away many times.
But as I grew into my teens,
I started to reflect
I forgave you and the decisions you made.
No matter what you were still my dad.
But either way we didn't see or talk to each other much
your demons were still there not to far behind,
you let it take ahold of you happiness,
of the man you could've become
all for that bottle that comfort the core of your soul.
And now I am here with tears in my eyes,
I feel so numb and helpless
like that little girl I once left behind
I know that now you will watch me from up above.
Til we meet again,
I dream that you will say,
"Mija, come take ahold of my hand,
let's walk together onto the life we can now have..."
