Happiness is Always There

We’re trying for something that’s already found us.
We struggle and stress over, virtually, over nothing.
We convince ourselves progression, betterment, is a necessity.
Do you know what life is about?
There is no need for pursuit;
Happiness sits calmly, and patiently, right in front of our faces.
And we create depression, it stands
And walks the halls of our brains with a brisk pace.
Life is easy.
The quicker you realize,
The quicker you’ll be asking, “Why didn’t it come to me?”
Do you know what life is about?
Freedom does exist.
It lies within us; existence is our freedom.
So live, and pay no mind to criticism.
Jump into the calm waters; abandon your maelstrom.
You create your own reality.
You decided your fate, your happiness,
Your depression and you you’d love to be.
Do you know what life is about?
At some point, the overachieving will understand.
Soon, everyone will realize what they ought to do.
Remember, when your mind decides to change
The world will change, too.
As happiness stares you in the face
And you look past towards darkness,
Don’t forget it’s always there on your horrid days.
Now, do you know what life is about?
