A temporary stop gap
Looking to the future
with fingers crossed behind my back

I can remember the days of old
Standing in the rain and cold
Not wanting to go inside
Afraid of what in there hides

Pain, fear, guilt and blame
As a child its all the same
Lies to gain is what i know
Gladly i will let them go

One fleeting moment lost in time
One little trinket i have that's mine
Something they can never take away
The one time i decided to stay

To breath the air upon the earth
To see the trees bloom again once more
To feel the love of those that care
And to set the fires to destroy despair

Walking forward, to where who knows
Looking back on the moments of past
Moving on to better and bigger
Hoping this time, it will last.

Living for the moment
A temporary stop gap
