A Soldier or a Vet
only a transition from one to the other
A person trained to kill
to protect their land and their brother

Veterans
Soldiers that have fought or served their time
They were there
to stop the enemy on a dime

In the past
Soldiers came back from a foreign fight
Protesters were there
screaming bad things at them with all their might

Not all Vets
feel the same
After returning home
only to find our Government to blame

Being shipped off to fight
seeing things they will never forget
Making them decide to leave the military
turning them into a Vet

Every Soldier understands the military
having their very own point of view
Not every Soldier will like it
and try to get out, if it’s the last thing they do

Today, when our Soldiers come home
we welcome with hugs and cheers
It’s about time things have changed
after so many years

Every time you see a Soldier or Vet
give them thanks and shake their hand
Show them you are sincere
by giving them a loving smile that is so grand
