I see you, behind your veil of disguise
The costume clad exterior put in place by people’s lies
I caught a glimpse of the treasure deep below
Through your emerald eyes that mask a hidden glow
Your spiralling depths to which no one has invested time
Instead just taking from you, never giving you time to shine
Underneath that surface is a light that burns so bright
That mischievous little devil that’s just begging to take flight
But you have clipped his wings for fear he do you harm
Maybe then, just maybe, I alone am tasked to free his charm
The kindness within you surely knows no bounds
The amount you have to give could not compare to any pounds
I can but live in hope that one day it will be me
The one you call your princess, the one to set you free
Patience is my virtue and it holds me in good standing
I know not how to fake, and never shall I be demanding
Until that day may arrive I am proud to be called your friend
To hold you through the darkness and show that you can depend
I will kiss away insecurity, your doubting and your fear
And maybe one day in the future you will feel safe to let me near
I shall not ever give up on you; I really am here to stay
But in just what capacity, well that’s for you to say!
