Regretting

In search of a break
It was a meeting by chance
Escaping the madness from within
There we were upon cement
I don't quite know what was said
But the world started calming down
Your presence became a crystal lake
And my heart was the skipping stone
Then I thought some words
And now I'm wondering if they were true
That I had fallen in love with you
Flash forward then there we were
The burning lights, the crescent moon
The smell of spring, you took my hands
We met our lips and breathed as one
Then we stood on a giant's shoulders
You watched the city lights below
I watched the moon's jealous smile
as its brightness paled to yours
Then I wrote some words
And now I'm wondering if they were true
that I had fallen in love with you
Flash forward again, we're in my car
I could see that look in your eyes
A blaze of passion turned to ash
We forgot how to make it last
Tears rolling like your red hair
I was a man who to turned to stone
With eyes as red as your hair
Suddenly I was a man alone
But now I sing those words
And I know that they are true
I had fallen in love with you
