I would rather the silence than the echo of empty promises.

I would rather sit at my table than wait for the crumbs from yours

I would rather know where I stand than sit with your indecision.

I would rather swallow the bitter pill of truth than choke on your lies.

I would rather a wall of silence than the obvious ringing of excuses.

I would rather drink with my enemies than sup the bitter cup of falsehood

For you tell me, you are my friend!

And I stand with you against the tides.

And we play the games

And we wear the masks.

But I would rather
