Rose Garden

What care needs the biggest rose
Sweet smell faintly assails a nose
Bright color with soft velvet texture
Cushions the facts of a lie's lecture

Thorn's steel daggers so sharp
Pierce with precision trusting hearts
Beauty to hide hate's ugliness
Cause admirers from love to digress

Truth is truth as the rose is sweet
Lies dig holes that grow too deep
Walls built with bricks of deceit
Block water from a root's feet

Cloud's white become a grey streak
Dark lies destroy with each you speak
Sun turns black, pain claims all light
No answer appears to make it right

Past gardens fill my empty mind
Smell a fragrance as time rewinds
Wishing only for a peaceful walk
Knowing we will never again talk

Love, like my rose, needs some care
Beautiful it grows with each we share
Never to understand how it happened
You let our world become so dampened

Tears fall as they try to water our garden
Flooding the ground from begin to end
Unsure if they're from hope or pain
Watching the rose petals around me rain

Lock the gate, and slowly back away
Our lonely garden has seen its day
On to create another lovely rose garden
I'll walk the path where truth is chosen
