Dear Jean! - Eugene! - -you left so fast, you left
And left your family and frieds bereft.
But naught is left for us but memories,
The bridge and passageway to Him that IS.

I ask the Lord, who gives and who withdraws
'Lord shall I mourn or thank you that she was ?'.
Transcending time, the clock and calendar,
To be with heaven's Blessed Ones au par,

Friend!~ when I think of you- the Fleur-de-Lis
Comes to my busy mind persistently,
The symbol t'is of loving memories,
Of God Triune, - fair fight and victory.

Your house is hushed- no sound is heard within,
Your little flowers keep their petals furled,
The soul has left and took with it her sheen,
And so much poorer is our hard-tried world,

In silent idleness still stand two chairs,-
Your porch deplete of guests speaks 'emptiness'
Looks to the frontal window which now stares
Out of its panels dull and meaningless.

Your table lamp is off and locked your door,
The door on which I shall no longer knock,
With confidence in need as heretofore,
And still stand the two fingers of your clock.

Your backyard's peonies no longer shine,
Once so admired and much coveted,
And the small flowerlets on your front lawn pine
For you dear friend in longing desolate.

Brave faithful friend, - the Royal Fleur-de-Lis,
Imbedded deeply in the human soul,
Be it your crowning 'laurels in HIS peace
Friend! rest in peace in our All-In-All.
