Love letters are fickle commodities, kept in pretty boxes
Caressed with loving hands longing to touch the sender
So far away and yet so dear, as if you were watching me
Your eyes so honestly blue, my lips long for kisses
We are lovers in words alone, on pages neatly folded
Kept in secret compartments under lock and key
My lover writes to me, my heart stirs, dreams unfurl
Stars fill the heavens when I read his words
So carefully chosen, each one a perfect gem
Love letters fill my heart indirectly with you
Say what you want, say what you will, I believe every word
But one day they stop as if ink has gone dry
My hope’s forlorn and love I despise for abandoning me
Adorn me with words, paint stars in my eyes
What a fool I was to put so much store in nothing at all
Flowery phrases and fifty cent words, made me a whore
Striking a match, the flame comes glowing to life
Turning your lies into ashes, I bid you good-bye
