I will write something today even if it sucks
I will climb back on this horse even if it bucks
My voice is frozen words, abandoned, unheard
My thoughts left in limbo, emotions deterred

There’s a distant rumbling of words falling into place
How many will make the page before I hit erase?
I once had a muse; he died an untimely death
Rumour has it he choked, holding onto his breath

I’m letting my thoughts unfurl unsteady as they come
I’m just a starving artist who’s looking for a crumb
In another time or place it would be buried deep
But I’m a lion in the jungle, not a meek sheep

I just want these words to grab the reigns and take hold
Ink blasts the page, another story to unfold
The lion roared but it sounded like a gasp
The prey in his mouth, but then he lost his grasp.
