Guards Down

Leaning back in my office chair
The first relaxing moment in hours
the first chance to let down my hair
and lay back amid a bed of flowers
The road ahead is far and long
but as I lay I know I will be strong
to face my obstacles and my demon
And I know that when I reach the end
I will be rid of my past and be a freeman
that is the reward of all the time I spend
on work, on poems, on life
on anxiety, on rage, on strife
I wake by a breath of fresh that touches my skin
and I close I the office window before I leave for Berlin
