Sitting Here Waiting On A Deer

Sitting here on this cold winter day,
Waiting on a deer,
I saw them only yesterday,
Where are they? They sure aren't here.
My nose is running, my feet are cold,
My hands I think are gone,
The "Big One" is here I'm told,
So I sit here since dawn.
The wind is blowing, I can't hear a thing,
So movement is hard to spot,
It would truly make my heart sing,
For a chance to get a shot.
I'll wait here with hopes high,
This is bound to be the year,
When at last my opportunity will walk by,
I'll be bringing home a deer.
So whether sun, wind, snow or rain,
I'll wait here patiently,
Even if this is not my day,
I'll be dreaming of bringing home a trophy.
