Autumn's Ashes
Date: Thursday, 1st April 2010 @ 11:24:59 AM AEST Topic: Sad Poetry
Contributed By: regent
Tattered leaves dance around dying trees
sweetly and with longing to attach
to their once lovers, they're lost
and never to be found, into the gutter
What passion lost in fall, end of summers love
My lips as dry and frail as the decaying sun catchers
Without the touch of beauty I grasped
for a season without reason
When does my body begin to crack
and fall to pieces
without the graceful touch
from your warm embrace?
Why must my green fade away
to brown and rustic hues
inferior to the vibrancy
we once shared
Tell me now shall I endure the cold
the frozen ground below your reach
to once again rejoin with you
when autumn fades,
when gray fades,
when my heart is not but ashes?
