Smoky Remnants of Deception and Emotional Anguish

Cigarettes and scars, lies and broken hearts
day after day, mindless in the enormity
Waiting for the moment-----
nights fly by, breaking into day
Exhaustion.
Cigarettes and scars, lies and broken hearts
twisted realities blend into one---
a short life, the early grave, now you're done-
They shiver at the end of your tomb.
Cigarettes and scars, lies and broken hearts
Twirling around under the frozen sky
blood pouring, the mind screams out
trauma, so dark and tempting, sorrow mouthing
why, the soul deep anger wants everyone to die.
Pay for what they did, burn them away.
Cigarettes and scars, lies and broken hearts.
The way the innocence dies after awhile,
leaves behind the need,
survival, and death, all at once.
Existence hinged on your personal
form of slow suicide.
Cigarettes and scars, lies and broken hearts
hours in the dark fade away
Anger, pain, and sorrow- here to stay.
Deadly vices stripping away years
rough hands swiping away tears
Tears that gather but never quite fall.
Any show of weakness and you could lose it all.
Cigarettes and scars, lies and broken hearts
Days that start with promise,
Nights that end in ecstasy.
Blood washes away, bruises fade
Scars continue on through the days,
the battered memories never go away.
Cigarettes and scars, lies and broken hearts
Nights spent feverishly, throat growing raw
Screams ripping through the air.
Learning to live with dreams that never go away.
The sunshine reveals the dark reminder of the days you spent under fire.
People who saved you, or at least tried
willing to protect that over which you reside.
The concerned warriors that wish to command
Swiping your nicotine away with a hand.
Cigarettes will kill you, be proud of your scars
Don't ever lie to me, deal with you own broken heart.
