As We Walked

As we strolled down the beach
walking hand in hand,
we gazed into each other's eyes
as the sun set
and the moon began to rise.
You gave a gaze
that held a kind of passion.
It was nothing of old fashion.
Everything around me became a blur
as I listened to our hearts beat
and the wind began to purr.
Whispers blew around us-
We knew it wasn't lust.
I felt it,
I know you did too.
And from that moment on,
I knew I could love you.
You took me in your arms,
a strong feeling of embrace-
And you held me against you
as you began to kiss my face.
I pushed you away
and said
"There's something I have to say,
but first,
I want to know what you're thinking.
Tell me-
Is this a life in the making?"
You didn't speak.
You just grabbed my hands
and kissed me.
I felt my knees grow weak.
You said
"I'm not going to say anything
'cause girl,
words can't express
what you mean to me".
Still hand in hand
we walked again
off towards the horizon
where I began to cry.
Without a doubt
you knew exactly why.
You found your life
and I had too.
Now I can go on
with someone to say
these words so true-
"I can never tell you
how much I love you".
