You teach me how to dance.
And slowly,
my wings unfurl.
Yes, one day I shall fly.
I shall fly above the deepest valley,
fly above this darkest pit,
fly above this barren desert.
I will fly to the peaks of the highest mountains,
soaring on my newfound wings.
Soaring on the wings You’ve given me.
Gliding on strong wings like eagles.
I will fly above this hopelessness.
You will free me from this Snare.
The Snare of Doubt,
of Darkness, of Depression.
Of the Fear that ever encloses itself
around me.
For now I am trapped…
trapped in this pit,
and feeling ever lonely.
One by one, the demons taunt me,
bringing me to Hopelessness.
Saying I will not get out.
Saying that You are not there.
Saying that I shall never fly to where I was before.
Yet in all of this, I hear Your voice.
It calls out to me in this pit.
In all of this, I see Your light.
It shines out to me in this darkness.
It breaks the barricade of Hopelessness,
and shines in the dawn of Faith.
It brings me down to the Cross,
where I lay down my heavy burdens.
Burdens, weighing on my back –
burdens of sin, of doubt, of despair
and everything that makes me
unworthy of Your
Everlasting Love.
And the Blood washes over
my heavy burdens,
bringing Light to me in this pit.
Through the darkness and taunts and death –
through the fear and doubt and tears –
through the depression –
there is Faith and Love and Hope.
In the Darkness You call out to me,
in the Pit You come to rescue me.
The Deepest Valley is only for a season,
for someday I will fly above on wings like eagles.
In the deepest valley,
You teach me how to dance.
And slowly,
my wings unfurl.

In the deepest valley,
You teach me how to dance.
And slowly,
my wings unfurl.
Yes, one day I shall fly.
I shall fly above the deepest valley,

I will fly to the peaks of the highest mountains,
soaring on my newfound wings.
Soaring on the wings You’ve given me.
Gliding on strong wings like eagles.
I will fly above this hopelessness.
You will free me from this Snare.
The Snare of Doubt,

Of the Fear that ever encloses itself
