Such Is Life I Suppose

A divorce between father and mother
'Cause daddy says that he loves another
So battle is raging and nothing less
And the son says he'll sell his religion to fix this mess
But they don't care, no they don't care
And Son says he wishes he could speak his brain
'Cause all his love has been washed away by the rain
Even though Mother and Father say that they love him
They say still love him
So they send him to college to get some more knowledge
And to learn how to work so he can put life on hold even longer
And he'll make some more friends who are nothing but actors
They'll say "we'll live thru this life and thru ever after
'Cause we're angels"
Yes, they're angels
And they'd sell off their halos for any fortune
And they'd sell off their wings to gain any fame
But then on Sunday they'd fall to their knees
and they'd say "God forgive us, forgive us please"
They'll be so repentant in all of their ways
They'll be so repentant...
Until Monday
And I shout that fakes are all that is left
They'll say "God bless you" and "God damn you" in the same breath
I've tried to keep it in, but now I just can't hold it
Because snakes are all that is left in the pulpit
