Eighteen

set a place apart
for all the girls with broken hearts
for all the late night liquor runs
for all the songs that go unsung
and the words they try to write
that never make it through the night
this world is done, let's start again
this doesn't have to be the end
i can't follow this alone
with waxy fingers that are prone
to slipping off of any surface
that's lacking sound and reverb
so let's set a place apart
cast a light into the dark
illuminating all the signs
that we passed by the last time
to my best, fair weathered friend
this doesn't have to be the end
yeah, this is only the beginning,
hey kiddo, we're only eighteen.
