The Dreamer

The dreamer
Asleep
Twisting and turning his body to escape
Harsh, the memories
Horror, the emotion
The inconceivable feeling of falling
Deeper into the downward spiral
Jerking and spluttering
Gagged and tied
Choking on what he used to know
What he still feels
It’s in his head, in his dreams
And everything he sees
It stalks him
And grabs him by the throat
Trying to take what he has left
Inner demons trying to take his last breath
