I’ve Been Here
I trace the clouds
With a finger on my hand
And as I walked along
Left my footprints in the sand
Some twenty-thousand-plus suns
On me have raised and set
With many moonlit nights
I would not soon forget
I’ve tasted the wine
From a woman’s lips
And have held them all
Gently at their hips
Have heard the wind
That will bend tall trees
And felt some joys
Which made weak my knees
I hugged my babies
So close to me
And held them high
For all to see
Then I’ve cried some tears
Don’t want to know when
And have laughed so hard
That I’d cry once again
But were you to ask
What was special of me
Well that would be the children
They are my legacy
