Her Many Moods

like a phoenix in furious flight
she casts herself across my night,
and burns me with her passionate self
to shake the trinkets off the shelf.
like a mother, she takes me to her breast
where I find sustenance and rest;
some healing of my awful past
and happiness that’s meant to last.
too many times I’ve called her bluff
when she tells me she’s had enough,
and left her broken at my feet
to watch me as I find the street.
she harangues me in long tirades
and eclipses me in various shades;
cries and laughs and often broods
but I love her, and her many moods.
