i find myself
wondering about crazy things…

stupid things…

things i shouldn’t be worrying about.

things like:
how soon will i have
enough poems
for another book,
and what’ll the reviews
be like?

things like:
what magazine
should i send these poems to?

or these?

and will they get accepted?

will they be
liked?

i hate it.

that’s not
me.

i want to go back
to the time
when i was an acquired taste
and only a
handful of people
bought my books.

and no one
cared.

it was so much easier
then.

but,
i’ll get through it.

things will
change.

they always do.

sometimes
i worry too much.

sometimes,
when i think
i’m skating on thin ice,
i’m surprised to find
it’s only
morning frost.

lately,

i find myself
wondering about crazy things…

things i shouldn’t be worrying about.

things like:
how soon will i have
