The Gifts That Were Stolen
Date: Sunday, 2nd September 2007 @ 07:07:55 AM AEST Topic: Sad Poetry
Contributed By: CatKin
To ONE I lost my innocence
and my faith in human-kind.
I learnt the sad importance
of weight and strength and size.
To TWO I lost my hope of love:
I lost my only child.
I learnt that I am not enough.
I learnt to believe lies.
To THREE I lost my prettiness,
my confidence and pride.
I learnt to feel that I was blessed –
I learnt that love could die.
To FOUR I lost my very soul:
my Spiritual beliefs.
I learnt that my heart is cold
and the world is full of thieves.
To FIVE I lost my tallent;
my last remaining gift.
I learnt that, when all is spent,
there is only emptiness.
So, from day one right to the end
Like ice, we melt away.
There is no love, there are no friends –
just an ever-growing space.
