When Anger Consumes Me

When anger consumes me, it’s a rare event,
I soon come to regret the hours I spent
trying to decipher it, to find some sense,
in the rage I feel when at someone’s defence.

People cannot always stand up for themselves
and others will lock them in reinforced cells.
Believing that just black and white hues prevail
and so into the stormy waters I sail.

I’m not equipped with the true power of words,
although I’m OK with rhythm and verse.
I empathise with the people concerned.
It can happen to anyone – that’s something I’ve learnt.

So, should we condemn, assume that we’re right?
Because of our beliefs, is ‘right’ on our side?
The answer is ‘No’ and I say it with pride.
But I’m guilty too – a rich tapestry’s life.
