Tearing Down Your Walls

Colors have changed from neon bright
to faded shades of gloom
Lights were once lit
like sunshine... in this very room
Times were to be cherished
and always so very sweet
My happiness took a few blows
Yes, I feel a little beat
Surprises they do come
Some not so grand
Don't get to comfortable, my friend
We all live on foreign land
Tainted by so much life
it is amazing how we survive
Keep waking every day
and breathe and stay alive
Strength can be so hard to muster
Yes, sometimes it is hard to stand tall
I feel at this time I must stand firm
and keep tearing down your walls
