"I Would Like to Write of Something Hopeful, But This Is All I See"

In the kitchen of a home
A man who works from 6 'til 10
Begs his wife to stay together
She offers up obsurd remarks
Then leaves her home and her three kids

And upstairs in a lonely chamber
One teenager wages war
She looks into the mirror
And sees a beast from ancient lore

We live in such a beautiful world, we do
With painted on faces in all of the places
We live in such a beautiful world, it's true

Now, in the belfry of the church
One priest kills a man
He throws the corpse into the well
So no one will ever know

On Sunday morning he'll ring the bell
And then produce his sermon to the crowd
He will tell them of their sins, then damn them all to hell
And they will say "God bless you sir, salvation has been found!"

We live in such a beautiful world, we do
With painted on faces in all of the places
We live in such a beautiful world, it's true

And it's sad, it's so sad
All the beauty breaks my heart
And it's sad, it's so sad
All the beauty is breaking me apart
