Self Imposed Penance

How can you repent when you can't forgive yourself,
throwing friends aside and casting out a wealth,
of people all around you, holding you up high,
but now they've moved away, and left you there to die.
But can you really blame them, for leaving you down there,
to wallow in self pity, self loathe and deep despair?
For what you've said and done, your going to have pay,
and in a bed of bleak regret, you'll force yourself to lay.
Everyone deserves a second chance, but you can't have it yet,
You'll stay and make it tear you up, until you won't forget.
But you've said it all to save you, to try and ease the hate,
and you know all you will do, is sit... and cry... and wait.
