Wings of Chains

I am unable to sleep

Half behind me in the darkness
My dreams are fell wonders
Tracing the dusts of her flesh

I remember the willingness
Of her throat pressed against me
Just as I remember the fear of her embrace
Looming in the thresholds of my heart

Her hands were an ocean
Battered by the wings of chains
A snap of coral
Colored pale
In the swift rejection of the moonlight

Her eyes-
Her eyes were the last decree
Of the sun
Setting loose in the narrows
Of her sadness
Piquing eerily at the rise
Of her delight

I remember most
The long regret
Of her death
The sobs of sorrows
Stealing in the
Fingers of her hair
As she slept

Her hair was cinnamon
And lye
A red snow tumbling
Across the belly
Of white sky

Still

I cannot face the chance to sleep
To meet in dreams the coffer of her smile
