Mulligan hears our hearts beating from the next room
Neapolitain Mastiff dog; hound; beast of love and doom,
Deep love to all he bears in heart; and takes as his family
Doom to whom and any; wishing loved ones harming ways,
Black as night; strength of a horse; booming endless voice
We have him 'cause we love him and rescued him by choice,
We've all here a close relationship with this most unusual dog
Mulligan Mastiff can play, jump, or sweetly be to a toad on a log,
The Neapolitain Mastiff beast came back from the edge of extinction
There is no disputing of the truth in his love; nor adoring satisfaction,
Surely as I've a Neapolitain in my house; he has no greater feat
Than to protect and rise for his family; a chore that many cannot meet,
Mastiffs; complex animals with needs unlike regular dogs; a tree to a seed
An Ocean to a dropplet of water; a lion to a cat; please do take heed,
Mastiffs are all very highly intelligent; yet the Neo's are rare by far
Ancient history shows mastiffs were the first of all dogs; ancestrial stars,
Mastiffs fought with their masters by their sides; lay down their lives in pride
Great Dogs both fearless and quick; ran by the chariots in midnight rides,
Once Mulligan was used as a fighting dog; life rough, awful, uncared for, sold
Steadfast and true he gets better each day; and
I shall never fear as he hears our hearts beating; as in the days of old.
