As You Walk Away

I hear the echo of your footsteps, long after you have gone
They linger and torment me, as I sit here all forlorn
Just staring into nothingness, wishing as you said goodnight
That you were whispering to me,while I'm in your arms held tight
Miles between us are many, dreaming is futile, this I know
Oh baby,I'm so sorry, but I think it's time to let you go
I paused here for a moment, while writing down these words
To cry a little, sigh a little, for a heart so softly stirred
Though silence falls around me,I still hear you walking away
I want so much to run after you and beg you to please stay
Yet knowing there's no tomorrows, makes me lonelier than before
And each moment that I spend with you,I love you a little more
My heart will always hold you near,in my soul you'll always breathe
From my dreams,my beautiful dreams, you my love will never leave
A day spent here without you, will be an eternity of pain
But baby,I can't take another,of our goodnights again
I will ache so much without you, maybe forever or awhile
I'll always hear your footsteps, but I'll remember you and smile
I thank you for just being you and bringing warmth into my days
As through my tears I sit to write, listening as you walk away
