A Sad Song

A strum, a hum, you love the sound.
You had feelings of love so profound.
What you hoped to find is not what you found.
Life's filled with fake smiles that mask the frowns.
Riding a down, why do no good things come around?
You grow old and your heart grows cold.
The happy memories you grasp, you want them to last,
so its those you hold.
But life gets meaner,
and on the other side the grass grows greener.
You always want what you can't have.
You've got to take the good with the bad.
Another strum, a growing hum, of a soft lullaby putting you to sleep,
you struggle to reach what you can't grab.
And I cry such a sad song,
trying not to dwell on whats wrong and whats gone.
With every word another tear, and I grow so weary.
Now I can see so clearly,
that all that really matters is having you near me.
Amidst the crazyness,
I find bliss in the spontaneous.
It's so simple, instead of another notch, it comes as a wrinkle.
You are just another twinkle in Life's Star.
But still it loves you the same as I, it loves who you are.
