Bleeding Blue

I held on with both hands,
And tried to speak the words to the page,
I wondered if the ink would stain my lips,
In another murky blue
Because I knew too much of blue,
Felt it course through my veins,
Like tepid water,
Stagnant and smelling of anger.
In every word, it bled onto the page.
It made my hands ache,
I knew the heart inside had stopped its beat,
And your heart had faded like a dream,
Until there was nothing left to hold on to.
So now I think I'll take my pen,
And write again,
Because I'm letting go.
