Cold Black Night
Hope,
Lady Hope,
sweet damsel of the morrow...
siren melody,
beacon of sterile white,
our eternal escape from sorrow...
such a lady,
this vaporous flame,
this substance less numinous waif,
this heartless temptress,
coyly enticing the lame
to walk rotten timbers as if were safe...
this lady,
this promising bud
that never blooms...
this hilltop mansion
with cold empty rooms...
the promised dream
that never comes...
the promised companion
that forever runs
into the cold,
black,
night.
